Environmental Love

Pokhara, Nepal - October 2021

Environmental Love is about loving, caring, cleaning the nature and cleansing the presence of humans.

Our beloved environment supports us unconditionally and it’s so important to take time to love them back. In this ongoing project we want to make caring for our nature as regular as cleaning your room, or changing the oil in your car. Not only is it good for the environment to be supported in this way, but doing this kind of cleansing in nature is extremely healing for humans. Nature is the company that will never judge you, never compare you, never separate you. You are accepted in the family of Nature now and always.

Our first effort with this project was cleaning a local spot in Pokhara. It’s a water stream that’s heavily used by locals from around Pokhara as a bathing spot and a place to wash clothes, as well as fill up jugs of water to bring home. The water runs down from the mountain and is incredibly fresh and lively. This piece of nature is very precious and powerful, and it only takes one visit to feel its presence. Due to circumstances of the culture and setting, this site has become a big litter pile. Forgotten clothes run down stream and get tangled in the foliage, tiny soap packets cover every inch of the bathing spot and the trail running up to it. There’s also a good amount of beer bottles and recreational trash from people enjoying themselves by the water. We have teamed up with members from the village municipality that stewards this water spot as well as a reporter from the village who will be covering this story in the newspaper. We installed dust bins for locals to use in the future as well. The idea is not just to clean the space, but to educate everyone who loves to go there on best practices for keeping it maintained. We hope this initial effort will lead to  long lasting communal cooperation.

Gloves, masks, empty sacks, snacks… It doesn’t take much to organize cleaning events like this, but the essentials are definitely essential.

Cleaning Nature isn't just good for the environment. It's a deeply healing experience for us as well. Nature are the beings that don't judge, don't compare, don't separate. We are all included in the family at every moment no matter what. We want to organize more cleaning and floriculture events, as well as awareness programs related with throwing little outside.
